I am writing this in support of Lillian Benrubi, whom, over the course of several years, I have come to know as an excellent therapist and to whom I refer almost exclusively. It is generally accepted in family practice that family physicians see several patients daily that come partially or solely for psychological and emotional difficulties. Although many of us become proficient at providing very basic supportive counseling, we frequently encounter clients that are in need of professional services on a much higher level than we are able to provide. I have had the very good fortune of being able to work closely with Ms. Benrubi on numerous occasions; and I can say quite unequivocally that my patient's response to her therapy has been strikingly positive. Not only do my patients improve, but they enjoy and appreciate her nonjudgemental, warm and empathic attention to the many and varied problems that they bring her. She seems equally effective across the full human spectrum; proficient with all age ranges and even with families as a whole. On the basis of several years of experience, I can unequivocally recommend her as a top-notch and eclectic therapist, who brings a very respectful and individually tailored approach to all of her clients. Professional Philosophy
At different times in our lives, we are handed challenges and have to face adversity. To help us through these difficulties we may look for support. A compassionate, well-trained, and experienced professional provides a safe environment in which to explore problems, offering the necessary guidance to work them through. Whether clients are dealing with issues of depression, anxiety, problems in a relationship, grief/loss, trauma/post trauma or have just lost direction and feel like they need a change in life, working with Lillian can help. Her counselling sessions offer clients the opportunity and environment needed to explore difficult or confusing terrain, to understand what is going on within them, and help them decide what they need to do to continue moving forward. When people have a sense of direction, a sense of ease around their issues; life flows. As we experience increasing calm, a greater sense of security and self control; we can regain access to joy, contentment, and overall well-being.
Lillian believes in the inherent strength and wisdom of every person. She helps focus clients to understand their own personal resources, so they can develop a sense of mastery over there lives. She believes that every problem offers the opportunity to grow more confident, more effective, and feeling in control. Supporting client's courage and self-compassion, clients learn a sense of true self worth, and come to trust in their ability to successfully handle difficult situations, emotions, or people. Adversity becomes an opportunity to reassess, to learn, to grow, and to thrive.
